Vineyards were to be found throughout the whole Jalon Valley.
Although vineyards have existedd in the Jalon Valley since Roman times, they never occupied a great extension until the 19th century, because cereals were basic diet and commerce had always been scarce. But commerce evolved greatly during the Industrial Revolution which allowed a great increase in the export of raisins and favoured this speciality in the area.
